second breakfast muffins

2 cups flour
1 ½ cups oat bran
1 ½ tsp baking powder
½ tsp baking soda
2 eggs
¾ cup brown sugar
1 cup buttermilk
1 cup pureed pumpkin
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp nutmeg
½ cup butter, melted
1/3 cup chopped pecans
¾ cup chopped dates

In a large bowl, whisk together flour, oat bran, baking powder and baking soda. In another large bowl, whisk together eggs, brown sugar, buttermilk, pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg and butter. Add the flour mixture and combine with a few light strokes. Fold in the chopped nuts and dates. Divide between 12 muffin cups, greased or lined with paper. Bake 20-22 minutes, until a toothpick inserted comes out clean and muffins are set.
